Here's an
article that gives a brief (if biased) background on the Bay Bridge retrofit project. Of course, it begins with liberal John Burton who (surprise surprise) supports higher taxes (errr tolls) on all the state bridges.

Ill behaved liberal media elites (shocking!)
From the Olympics front:
Sometimes you have to tell the American and European media to
WAIT YOUR TURN!
Unfortunately, no one really did.
There is a media room, where athletes will do interviews with the assorted press corps that are covering the games.
Apparently the liberal media elite feel that they own the room (and no other country has athletes at Athens) because they promptly began to disrupt a Chinese medalist's interview by simultaneously yakking loudly amongst themselves and conducting an interview with a Dutch swimmer while the Chinese medalist's interview was STILL IN PROGRESS!
This kind of bad manners will not go down 4 years from now. If something like this happens then, the PSB will simply drag the offenders outside and deal with their lack of respect and protocol accordingly.
Either with a
beating or a
bullet. They take manners seriously over there.

Overpriced Bay Bridge Project (thanks libs!)
The Governator has told the Bay Area that if you want an overpriced sexy bridge to replace the eastern cantilever section, the Bay Area has to
pay for it themselves!
Way to go, Arnold!
One of the ways to give liberals seizures is to suggest that they
pay for their overpriced schemes themselves, which is how John Burton, Don PeRATa and other liberal cronies reacted to this proposal by the Governor.
Another way to exacerbate liberals is to shine the light of truth onto their schemes. The Governor will order an audit of the Bay Bridge project. It will:
Appoint an independent auditor to find out why it has taken 15 years to complete the seismic retrofit, which includes constructing a new eastern span.
Ask the Legislature to place a measure on the Nov. 2 ballot asking Bay Area voters to redirect the $1 toll increase approved in March for new projects to help cover the bridge overruns.
Ask the Legislature to transfer responsibility for the retrofit project to the Metropolitan Transportation Commission.
This way, everyone in the state will know exactly why the Bay Bridge project went waaay over budget AND why the liberal Bay Area should pay for it ALONE.
Because it was THEIR fault that the bill got so big. And like all liberals, they expect other people to pay for their folly!
And, oh yah. From Los Angeles, you take the I-5 North to Sacramento. There's no need to cross the Bay Bridge at any point of that journey.

This is what happens when you give out free money...
under the guise of "Public Financing of Supervisor Campaigns" for anyone who is "running" for stupidvisor and raises a minimum amount of money
All the freaks come out!
And guess who pays for it? Not the freaks, that's for sure.
Now that fund is running out of money because there are so many freaks "running". Many of them are not viable, meaning that it's money pissing down a deep deep hole... Guess where they go to replenish this "Public Financing of Campaigns" fund? The General Fund!
Sheesh.
First it's bums drawn to San Fran to get the free GA. Then that dries up. Now it's a lot of freaks "running" for Supervisor.
Hope this is the nail in the coffin for this stupid leftist idea...
