Left-Wing Media suckers

There's a joke that went around a while back...

Hmmm. Report the truth instead of bias on CBS?
Dan Rather.......NOT!

Yes, a lame joke. I'll admit that. But not as bad as CBS' and the DNC's joint attempt at smearing President Bush with a obvious forgery.

Hey stupid liberals/leftists! If you're going to forge a document that allegedly came from the early 70s, don't use MS Word! See here for proof.. Read about it (even on SF Gate!) here and here and here. Tony has more indepth analysis here.

Note SF Gate's non-use of the word "authenticity" in its byline. Wonder why they did that? Perhaps they dun want to admit that they are suckers too, since they trumpeted this story the other day as truth and gospel from the DNC?

Not going to hold my breath for retractions from the DNC and CBS. Hell, they're practically the same anyway...

Union Hyprocrites

You know the "teachers union", the one that always pushes for bonds for "education" instead of what the bond money actually does, makes their union bigger?

How they say that public school education is the best and thus denies innovations such as vouchers, school choice and teacher accountability?

The union that pushed for westside kids to go to eastside schools where they would have faced violence and social problems, among others?

Guess where these teachers send their OWN kids to school? Kinda shows how overpaid these ppl are...

Useful advice from France

Something useful coming out of France for once.

Someone wrote a book about work life in France, a'la Dilbert. She got a lot of heat for it. But she's fighting back. Which gives all wage slaves hope.

Here's some advice called "10 Commandments for the Idle" from her book, Bonjour Paresse.

1. You are a modern day slave. There is no scope for personal fulfilment. You work for your pay-cheque at the end of the month, full stop.

2. It's pointless to try to change the system. Opposing it simply makes it stronger.

3. What you do is pointless. You can be replaced from one day to the next by any cretin sitting next to you. So work as little as possible and spend time (not too much, if you can help it) cultivating your personal network so that you're untouchable when the next restructuring comes around.

4. You're not judged on merit, but on whether you look and sound the part. Speak lots of leaden jargon: people will suspect you have an inside track

5. Never accept a position of responsibility for any reason. You'll only have to work harder for what amounts to peanuts.

6. Make a beeline for the most useless positions, (research, strategy and business development), where it is impossible to assess your 'contribution to the wealth of the firm'. Avoid 'on the ground' operational roles like the plague.

7. Once you've found one of these plum jobs, never move. It is only the most exposed who get fired.

8. Learn to identify kindred spirits who, like you, believe the system is absurd through discreet signs (quirks in clothing, peculiar jokes, warm smiles).

9. Be nice to people on short-term contracts. They are the only people who do any real work.

10. Tell yourself that the absurd ideology underpinning this corporate bullshit cannot last for ever. It will go the same way as the dialectical materialism of the communist system. The problem is knowing when...

At my last job, #6 was especially true. Especially when they got to take a lot of "comp" time off, produced very little and took 2 hour lunches to boot.

Burning Man is going Upscale

I used to work with a bunch of yuppies who took time off to go to Burning Man each year. It's kind of like the meek accountants who reveal their citizenship in the Raider Nation each Sunday (or Monday Night) during football season.

They (the yuppies) would say it was all about the "community" and the "art" and the "experience", but most of us knew it was about the drugs and the music.

In other words, a rave with a politically correct and elitist facade.

Burning Man is getting too big, according to this. Big and more concerned with making money (which is needed when you get BIG). But the kicker is this person who typifies many of the people I've met who are members of the cult of the Burning Man.

"I'm not sure there are enough people who are really interested in the Burning Man aesthetic," said a woman named Shana. "Do we really want this to be just suburbanites?"

She paused, frowned and shook her head. "OK, that sounds snobbish maybe. But we're part of society. Maybe I just don't like the way this country is going."

Ummm, Shana. You are snobbish. Except you dun really have a reason TO be snobbish.

Wonderful message, eh? And many of the peeps I know that go to Burning Man have a similar attitude. Keep the event private enve though it's on public land.

If you're not one of these elitists, you're not welcome to the experience but your cash is, especially since the entry fees range from US$185 to over US$230 and that funds the event and pays for art grants.

And ironically, Burning Man is the biggest event to be held on public lands. Public meaning everyone.

Even the surburbanites.
