Keep your Palm Pilot, keep your Windows closedNews in the Chron today. Apparently, Kevin Shelley (who will no longer be SOS as of Tuesday) had his house broken into. The
perp stole his state issued (and owned) Palm Pilot.
This Palm Pilot apparently has lots of Shelley's political contacts (donors) on it. What gets me is the stupidity of the Chron. Like it's a big deal. Read the article for tidbits such as:
The handheld computer -- capable of accessing the Internet and state- secured Web sites -- has been shut down by remote by state officials.
You can't shut down a Palm Pilot (I believe this one was a Tungsten C) by "remote". You can disable the wi-fi settings it may have on memory but that's about it. If it wasn't password protected, the info is out there. And if it was, hopefully the memory got wiped and it's for sale somewhere on 6th Street.
Besides, if the Palm Pilot was regularly hot sync'd, all the contacts are on the Pee Cee that it syncs with. So dun worry Chron, Shelley still has all those contacts that he can continue to squeeze money from!

Losers for a Lost OrganizationThe UN, a lost organization if there ever was one, has decided to turn to damage control and media spin to try to save what reputation it has left. Wanna know how they're planning to do this?
By
hiring ex-Kerry campaign staff. A good idea? They sure did well in
their campaign.
Yah, they sure were effective. Name calling and spreading lies about the Republicans was the way that Kerry won. But wait, he lost! By 3.5 million votes. Sure is effective.
But this way is easier for the UN. Instead of actually cleaning house and rolling heads. What do you expect from a corrupt and useless organization?
