Because some people are more equal than othersOr, how people who work for the City and County of San Francisco are better than it's taxpaying citizens. They have to drink
bottled water, despite the fact that the City is running a marketing campaign claiming that tap water is fine.
Except it's not fine for city "workers". They MUST have bottled because they're more equal!
Sound like the same doublespeak that the City dishes out. Examples? I'll provide two.
Numbah Wun: The City constructively forces taxpayers to ride MUNI by raising parking rates, tickets and limiting parking (to practically zero spaces) to "discourage" taxpayers from driving. You make it difficult to drive, they'll take MUNI (and provide union jobs). Meanwhile, if you work for the City, you get a parking space, city "workers" are allowed to take City owned cars home and back to work (do they get taxed for this free commute benefit?) and these same City owned cars can be used for personal errands during lunch hours (as demonstrated by seeing a Housing Authority car at 280 Metro Center during the day).
Numbah Tew: Remember, more San Francisco teachers send their own school age kids to private school than any other school district in the State of California. Yet, they "believe" in the public school mission and oppose any sort of accountability or charter schools.
Just not for THEIR kids!
Remember, they work for the City, they're MORE EQUAL than you are!

Awww, poor hippie county! Humboldt County, where much of San Francisco's bum population comes from, is
mad about the fact that 13 bums have been sent BACK to Humboldt from San Francisco.
According to Humboldt County Supervisor Jimmy Smith, San Francisco sending back 13 bums to Humboldt is putting "financial and social stress" on his county. Sure. 13 bums.
Maybe San Francisco should send back ALL the bums that hail from Humboldt and see if he likes what San Francisco has to deal with, thanks to enlightened leaders who see San Francisco as a dumping ground for their human flotsam.
Of course, San Francisco has had this dishonour for years. First it was the hippies. Then the leftists. The bums. And then the trust fund brats. Sheesh.

Isn't it Ironic? Google may have turned eeeevil...cue Alanis Morrisette (hm, whatever happened to her, I wonder) "music" here...
Google, that useful search engine that brags about "
making money without being evil" (number 6) as part of their corporate philosophy, has
agreed to censor search results on its new ".cn" domain, so they can get a foothold in the communist Chinese market. They will omit sites and terms that the communist regime finds "objectionable".
Like "freedom"Or "democracy""Taiwan" and "independence"Or any reference to the 1989 Tiananmen Square massacre of patrotic Chinese. Just some of the "objectionable" terms that Google.cn will be censoring for the chinese communist party. Here's Google's rationale for selling out to the communists
"We firmly believe, with our culture of innovation, Google can make meaningful and positive contributions to the already impressive pace of development in China," said Andrew McLaughlin, Google's senior policy counsel.
How? By supporting the CCP? By doing exactly as they say? To obey a communist dictatorship?
Remember, this is the
same Google that is
fighting the US Government's
efforts to
crack down on child pornography in an
ongoing investigation.
Wonder if it's because much of
Google's employees supported democrats in the 2004 election (according to some) and this lack of cooperation is to make the Republican administration look bad? Naaaah, that can't be it! It's about the "privacy" of their users, even though anyone can use Google without registering or divulging any personal information! What kind of privacy rights do you have when you use a public resource anonymously? I can see that argument if Google was a pay service or if you had to login each time you did a search. But they're not and you don't.
Bet that Google board can sleep well at night, knowing that they are making "meaningful and positive contributions" to China's development, by curtailing freedom for the Chinese people while fighting the US Government's attempts to track down child pornography and to protect children from the sickos of the world.
Renminbi versus protecting kids. Yeah, that's it. Renminbi more important. Remember Google, you can make money without being evil! And choosing money over protecting kids, that's evil!
Tsk tsk tsk.

Shocking NewsHere's a shocking piece of news: MUNI drivers are bad and because of their behaviour, San Francisco taxpayers are stuck paying their multi-million dollar bill.
But wait, this has nothing to do with their overinflated paychecks! It's their driving record and the fact that they cause all
this damage and they
dun get fired!
So let me get this straight: MUNI drivers are the most overpaid in the country (as per contract), they can
cause accidents and kill people and they STILL keep their jobs?
I'm shocked, I tell ya. Shocked.
